The Scapegoats were formed in Chicago in 1992. The band released a 6 song
cassette called, "Could Ya"
and started gigging around town. In January 1993, they traveled to Tucson, AZ,
to record an 11 song CD, "A Sundae in the Desert" with legendary
guitarist Rich Hopkins of the Sidewinders / Sand Rubies producing.
Hopkins released the CD on his own label, San Jacinto Records and features some
of Tucson's finest studio musicians lending some help. The band got some rave
reviews for this debut disc.

The Cyclic Nexus of pop, punk and garage was sighted in the mid 60's just
prior to the counterculture's full blown arrival, and then again in the mid 80's
when the rumblings of the alternative underground were still just rumblings.
Chicago's Scapegoats belong to the current wave that's beginning to get noticed.
The trademarks: thick, churning guitar chords with a jangly undercurrent;driving,
uncomplicated percussion; urgently brash and decidedly unsaccharine singing. In
short, powerpop that punches you in the gut even as you sing a long. Just say
" Dü."
And listen for local guests Stefan George, Bridget Keating, Trixie Crowder and
Maggie Goldston, plus producer Rich Hopkins.

The Scapegoats - A Sundae in the Desert
Two years working on their chops and The Scapegoats are out of the gate fast
with their 11-song debut CD. This Trio, led by the slightly gravel throated Bob
Musial, scores extra super big points covering the Eddie Rabbit penned Elvis
Presley top ten hit, Kentucky Rain. These guys play it all pretty straight, but
they definitely have a promise of great things to come.
